Versatile Gondola Shelving

gondola shelving

Gone are the days of the old Grandville sketches where the shopkeeper hands you your products over the counter. Now the buyer wants choice, they want to look around and take in the various products on offer to them. The shopkeeper has to enable this by using their retail space efficiently. Gondola shelving is just one of the ways Shelving4Shops can help with this.

Gondola shelves are shelving units which offer a double-sided storage space, with the choice of either pegboard or standard shelves. Gondola shelving units are free-standing which uses only a small amount of space considering the amount of shelving you gain, optimising the number of products you can stock per square metre. Gondola shelves are durable and are perfect for holding heavy products like tinned food and canned or bottled drinks.

One of the main benefits of gondola shelving is being able to create aisles easily and effectively, giving your store a bigger overall look. Create a logistical and attractive store while utilising all the space available is one of the main challenges facing all store owners, and the Shelving4Shops team can help with all aspects of retail shelving and shop layout to help you find a solution for your store.
gondola shelving
You can find gondola shelving in every type of store, from large supermarkets to small toy shops. Gondola shelving is one of the most popular ways allow customers to shop at ease, offering a convenient and pleasurable shopping experience where the customer has the opportunity to see, touch and feel products on display. You are far more likely to get impulse sales when you offer an easy shopping experience.

Our gondola shelving is available in numerous heights, lengths and widths to cater to your requirements. Pegboard backing can also be used with this type of shelving to offer you a quick and easy way to change the layout of your products, or maybe make your gondola units seasonal for Christmas or summer. You can even add wire stacking baskets to the shelving to hold single packets of crisps, small toys or other items which may be awkward to stack neatly. The versatility of gondola shelving is outstanding and this cost-effective shelf unit can be an invaluable resource for any store owner.

gondola shelving

If you are unsure of the space you need for a gondola unit, call one of our experienced Shelving4Shops team who will be happy to help you. All we need are the measurements for the floor space for you have, or a basic store plan (even a rough sketch on a piece of A4 is very useful).

gondola shelving

Taking time to find the right gondola shelving for your store is very important - if you look after your shelving it will last for years to come. If you take a look in our showroom we can show you the durability and strength of our products and talk you through your various options.

Gondola shelving is a cost-effective shelving option, but if your budget is very tight why not try our second hand shop shelving? Being second hand they might have some minor usage marks or scratches but they will not be prominent and once filled with your stock will be barely noticeable if noticeable at all.

At Shelving4Shops we are always updating our stock ranges and have large quantities of new shop shelving and accessories, including:

·     Wall shelving - If you have a lot of wall space then wall shelving is an excellent way to maximise the floor space you have available. We have a range of heights and widths available to ensure you can find the perfect fit for your store.
·     Shopping baskets - Placing stacks of baskets at the front of your store makes it easier for customers to carry more items. It can also help to have stacks of baskets around the store to encourage customers to pick up more items than they originally intended.
·     Wire stacking baskets - Using wire stacking baskets can be a great way to fill that empty space in the corner or that open floor space you have that is too small for a full bay of shelving. The versatility of these baskets make them a great addition to any store and can be moved regularly to draw customers eyes to new displays.
·     Corner shelving - The design of classic straight shelving means that often a corner is left empty or block off. The simple addition of a corner shelving unit can open up that corner and provide extra display space for products.

·     Peg board shelving and pegs - Not all products that are stocked will sit well on traditional flat shelving, pegboard shelving is an excellent alternative that can, with the simple addition of hooks, easily display hanging items.

Shelving4Shops helps stores of every size to find the right shelving for their needs with a design and plan service to suit individual requirements and a huge range of shelving and accessories in stock at our Leicestershire showroom. Why not give us a call on 01455 221512, email us at sales@shelving4shops.co.uk or visit our website www.shelving4shops.co.uk.

A New Showroom for Shelving4Shops!

The new Shelving4Shops showroom is now open for business and we have much more to offer you in terms of retail shelving and shop racking. It’s one thing looking on a website or out of a catalogue, but it’s another thing seeing our range of shelving first hand, enabling you to visualise your products and give you confidence in what you're buying. It's much easier to make sure you’re getting exactly what you need when shopping at our showroom, and with our large stock of new and used shop fittings available to take away on the same day, you're sure to find the right retail shelving for your requirements.

When you visit our showroom you can also get a free demonstration on how to assemble and fit your shelving correctly, so even if you don’t fancy yourself DIY guru, you should be happy to tackle your new shop shelving by the time you leave! And if not, let us know and we can deliver and assemble it for you.

We're happy to sit down with you at the showroom to discuss your shop shelving and planning needs, and with our range of peg board, gondola and wall shelving all displayed in various sizes, it's easy to see how your shelving layout can work for you.

Of course, it did take a little time for us to get up and running in our new offices and showroom as we had a lot of work to do! First, there was the office move, then we had to remove a wall…

The wall removed

The full extent of the showroom was revealed for the first time
With that done and the shelving from the old showroom dismantled we could really appreciate how big the new showroom would be...

Work begins to build the showroom

Wall bays and stacking baskets are placed
Once the dust settled and the floor was cleaned, work began on installing the new shop shelving display. While this was completed the old showroom was kept semi-functional so our customers at least had something to look at (even if it was a little dusty). A new corner display unit was installed and stacking baskets placed so that our customers could get a sense of scale and versatility of the products.

And after a lot of work and a solid effort from the team, we now have a smooth sleek U shaped showroom for all of the visitors to enjoy, demonstrating our range of quality new and used shop shelving and accessories:

We also have a few new lines on display, such as our mirrored vegetable shelving and wooden bay ends:

Now we're up and running, we are fully equipped to help our customers choose the right shop shelving. Sometimes it can be very difficult to visualise the different sizes of shelving in your store space and we are often asked to recommend an average sized shelf. We always suggest for customers to come into the showroom to see the products for themselves, and we even provide cans and bottles to give you a real sense of scale.

Our showroom is now fully open to visitors and with a new counter installed and the cleaning complete we are happy to invite all our customers new or old to come and take a look at our new shop shelving and accessory product ranges. We're based in the Midlands between Leicester and Coventry with great motorway access from the M1, M6 and M69, so there is absolutely no excuse not to come down for a coffee!

We also have our full range of new shop shelving and accessories available online at Shelving4Shops including:

·     Gondola shelving - Many stores choose to use gondola shelving due to its versatility and the range of widths and heights that we stock mean that it is perfect for every store. This shelving can be used to create aisles throughout your store and provide ample display room.

Saving Money with Used Shop Shelving

second hand shop shelving
Used and second hand shop shelving at our Midlands showroom
One way to save money on expensive shop refits is to buy used shop shelving, especially if you're embarking on a new venture and there is no guarantee how well things will go.

At Shelving4Shops we try our hardest to source and supply used shop shelving to offer customers on a budget great value for money. We also offer a dismantle and collection service for larger stores, so if you are buying or selling second hand shelving you have come the right place. There are many different sizes of  shelving, for example: a standard size of  gondola shelving unit for larger cash and carries or supermarkets would start at 1400mm height and go up to 2100mm.

Shelf depths start at 200mm and go up to 570mm and it is important to get the right size of shelf to fit your store, not just to buy the cheapest shelving you can find or use something that your friends found in the back of his shop! Just because it’s cheap, it doesn’t mean it’s the right shelving for your store. Buying second hand shelving from a large cash and carry to put into a small convenience store will be costly in the long run when you find you have to take it all down and replace it with smaller shelves. At Shelving4Shops we are always happy to advise you on store layouts and shop plans, helping you to design the right shelving configuration that will work for you and your customers.

We also have a showroom containing our wide range of shelving and shop fitting accessories, making it easy to decide and visualise exactly what you need. If we don’t have exactly what you need within our used shelving stock, there is always the option of buying new shelving and fixtures. Most of our customers are surprised that there is very little difference between new and used shelving prices and how cheap it can be to refit a new shop.

Alongside our second-hand shelving options at Shelving4Shops we hold large quantities of shop shelving and accessories, including:

·     Gondola shelving - This is a popular shelving choice in many stores, use gondola units to create aisles throughout your store or use them in conjunction with other units we offer to create seamless shelving throughout your store
·     Wall shelving - This shelving can be used around the perimeter of your shop floor to maximise your floor space and provide ample room for displaying items.
·     Shopping baskets - Placing baskets at the front and around your store is a great way to encourage customers to purchase more items as baskets make it easier for them to hold items.
·     Wire stacking baskets - These are an excellent way, like dump bins, to display impulse purchase items and sale items throughout the store. As these are freestanding they can be used to fill empty space in your store and can be easily moved to create new interesting displays.
·     Corner shelving - Utilise every inch of floor space you have by using specialist corner shelving to bring life back into an overlooked corner of your store.
·     Peg board shelving and pegs - Not all products sit well on classic flat shelving, our range of pegboard shelving allows you to hang products to ensure they are displayed in the best way possible. All of our bays can be slotted together to ensure a seamless shelving display.

Supermarket shelving and shop racking

supermarket shelving

Shelving4Shops have been working with supermarkets for over 15 years, supplying and assembling retail shelving to retail stores of all sizes to maximise their shelving efficiency. Whether you run a 30,000 square foot supermarket, medium-sized cash and carry, or a small convenience store, you will need durable, versatile retail shelving and shop racking to display your range of products, and that's where we come in...

We help shop owners to make the very best of the space they have available, configuring shop shelving and accessories to boost sales and create effective foot traffic flow. Supermarkets use a range of shop shelving, from wall shelving runs to free-standing gondola units with double-sided shelving. Because there are so many types of products to stop it's important for shelving to adapt to different requirements and provide a long-lasting and user-friendly display.

Our supermarket shelving range is suitable for all types of goods and products, including:

·     Magazine units - The perfect place to display newspapers, magazines, cards, books or any other paper goods. These units are designed to hold goods up to allow the front of the paper goods to be seen by customers walking past.

gondola shelving

Gondola shelving units are one of the integral elements to any supermarket or convenience store since the dual-sided shelves provide natural aisles for customers to browse. By joining several gondola units together you can create 'runs', which can be finished with end bays to maximise shelving space. Along the walls, you can use standard wall shelving or peg board shelving to display a range of products, and corner bays make use of space that otherwise might be wasted.

Don't forget your shelving accessories, too! Epos ticket strips, dump bins, stacking wire baskets, shelf dividers and risers, shopping baskets and trolleys are all essential parts of fitting out your store.

We can help you to plan, choose and assemble your supermarket shelving, just get in touch with us at our Shelving4Shops showroom in Leicester, by emailing sales@shelving4shops.co.uk or calling 01455 221512. Or shop our full range of shop shelving and accessories online at www.shelving4shops.co.uk.

The beauty of peg board shop shelving is its versatility, as you can adapt it to your needs as many times as you like, changing your shelving to suit your stock.

Designing a Shelving Layout for Your Store

Designing the right shelving layout for your shop is the most important thing you can do when setting up or refitting a retail store. The way your shelving is configured will determine the direction of traffic through your store as well as determining how much stock you will be able to display. Remember that first impressions really do count, and having a well-thought-out store layout can make your shop appealing and effective for customers, resulting in more sales for you!

First, you'll need to take accurate measurements of your floor space, marking on your plan exactly where electrical outlets, alcoves, windows and doors are positioned. It can be worth making a few copies of this original plan so that you can try out different configurations. If you have an idea of where you want to place your counter and shop shelving, make a note of it or cut out paper templates of each element to see how best you can fit them in.

Next it's time to look at the types of retail shelving that will be most useful in your store. There are several main types of shelving to choose from, including:

  • Wall shelving: This type of shop shelving is fitted up against your store's walls and can be joined to other units to form a run. Wall shelving is usually ended with a corner unit or end bay.
wall shelving

  • Gondola shelving: Gondola shelving is one of the most popular types of retail shelving as it provides maximum shelving space on both sides of the unit. Gondola shelving can also create aisles in your store and guide traffic flow.
  • Pegboard shelving: Pegboard backing allows for shelves, pegs and hooks of different heights to be positioned according to the products you need to display. Perfect for hanging items and for when you need to stock a wide variety of different sized products.
  • End bays and corner bays: These units finish off shelving runs and provide shelving to fit into corners. End bays are ideal for promotional, seasonal and spontaneous purchases while corner bays make use of awkward spaces.

Save Cash on Your Retail Shelving

When fitting out a supermarket, convenience store or retail store with shelving, cost and budget are usually in the forefront of your mind. For business owners, finding shop shelving that is both durable and cost-effective can have a big impact on their overall budget and start-up costs. At Shelving4Shops, we help a huge range of stores to save cash and find the most efficient shelving options for their individual requirements.

So how can you save money on your retail shelving and racking? You have several options depending on the size of your store, the types of products you stock, and the style of shelving you need. The best thing to do is to pop into the Shelving4Shops showroom or give us a call on 01455 221512 to discuss your situation, and our shop shelving experts can help you to put together a plan of action. But for some instant help, here are a few suggestions on how to save cash on your shop shelving and accessories.

Plan Your Layout

Having a good shop shelving plan is integral to making sure you are making the most cost-effective choices on your shop fittings. If you're unsure about how to go about making a store plan, simply note down the dimensions of your space and email us or drop into the Shelving4Shops showroom so that we can help you to design your perfect store.

When planning your store, think about the positioning of refrigerated shelving units (which are generally placed at the back of the store), the space between shelving units (which should be wide enough for a wheelchair or pushchair to pass through), and the types of shop shelving you will need for different products. Once you have all these elements in place, you will be able to choose the best layout possible.

shop shelving

Choose Second Hand Shop Shelving

Second hand shop shelving can save you money on your store shelving and racking, and the used shop shelving we stock at Sheving4Shops is high quality and can be matched with existing shelving units. We are one of the top shelving removal specialists in the country and are able to offer a huge range of used shelving to help you keep under budget while fitting out your store. Our used shelving includes gondola shelving, wall shelving, pegboard shelving, end bays, magazine shelving, shop racking and accessories. Get in touch to find out what we currently have available.

Replace Individual Units and Update Existing Shelving

Sometimes it's more cost-effective to rearrange your existing units and only replace the shelving that really needs updating. This way you'll be able to find a brand new configuration for your store and save money on shelving units that didn't really need to be replaced. You can brighten up older shop shelving units with a good clean, some new Epos ticket strips and fresh signage. A few new shop shelving units can fill the gaps and make your store look brand new with minimum fuss and expense. We can match your existing shelving with appropriately sized units so that the switch is totally seamless!

Maximise Your Space and Buy Fewer Units

Think carefully about the width and size of your units and the cheapest way to fill your store space. For example, choosing wider shelving units may mean that you will need fewer in total. Once again, a good floor plan will help you here. Changing the way you organise your retail shelving can also help you to make the right choices about the units you choose. Would your gondola run work better in a different direction? Could you choose deeper shelves? What about refrigerated shelving? Consider the best use of your space and buy as few units as possible to save yourself some cash.

retail shelving

Choose High Quality Shop Shelving

Finally, choosing the best quality shelving you can afford will certainly save you money in the long run. It may mean more initial outlay but the durability and longevity of your shelving rely on the quality of the units. Your store's success lies with your shop shelving - poor quality shelves that need replacing or fail to hold their load will not only cause extra costs but will disrupt your store unnecessarily.

Shelving4Shops holds large quantities of shop shelving and accessories, including:
