At Shelving4Shops we work with a lot of new business owners as well as some seasoned professionals, and the same questions pop up a lot when they're searching for the perfect shop shelving for their store. We've put together some of the most frequently asked questions here for your perusal in case you're planning a new store or a shop refit and are in need of a bit of help with your shop shelving... Q: Can I see the shelving in person or do I have to order online/over the phone?

A: We have a showroom in Leicestershire stocking our huge range of shop shelving for you to browse at your leisure - we definitely encourage you to come along and have a look if you're in the area as seeing the units in situ really helps to visualise them in your space. 

Q: Do you sell used shop shelving?

A: Yes we do! Obviously, our stock will vary according to what we have in but we always have second hand shelving available. If we don't have what you need in stock we will do our best to source it for you or match any existing shelving units as perfectly as possible.

Q: What kind of shop shelving do you stock?

A: We offer wall shelving, gondola shelving, pegboard shelving, magazine racking, corner shelving units, shop counters, shelving accessories, shopping baskets, wire stacking shelving and dump bins! Q: I need help planning my store - will you advise me?

A: Absolutely. Our team of shelving experts are happy to sit down with customers and work out the best configuration of shop shelving for your space and budget. Just bring along a floor plan to the showroom or email one to us and we'll have a look for you.

Q: Do the units break down or are they sold in one piece?

A: All our shop shelving units can be disassembled into smaller components so that they are easy to transport. If you need help getting your units back to your store we can help with delivery too.

Q: And will you help me assemble my shelving when we get there?

A: Of course! So long as you make us a cuppa first...

Q: I'm not sure what I need - can you help me decide and give me a price quote?

A: We're happy to talk over your shelving requirements on the phone, via email or in person - all we need is an idea of the space you have available and the type of products and shelving you're thinking of having.

Q: We just need a couple of extra units. Can you match the shop shelving system we already have? 

A: We have extensive knowledge of the different shelving brands available and we can certainly help you find the right system to match your existing units. If not, we'll be able to find something that is compatible!

Q: Is VAT included in the price?

A: VAT will be added to the final price at the checkout at the standard UK rate.

·     Gondola shelving - This is a popular shelving choice in many stores, use gondola units to create aisles throughout your store or use them in conjunction with other units we offer to create seamless shelving throughout your store

·     Wall shelving - This shelving can be used around the perimeter of your shop floor to maximise your floor space and provide ample room for displaying items.

Creating an Eye-Catching Window Display

Shop shelving isn't just for inside your store! Use retail shelving and accessories to decorate your store window and create a striking display.

Your store's window display is the first thing your customers see as they pass by, and it's important to make it eye-catching and inviting. Not only do your displays encourage customers to visit your shop, but they also present that all-important first impression of your store. If your displays are unimaginative, dusty and disorganised, people may assume that the inside of your shop is the same. 

Using posters, advertising, a range of products and some well-placed shop shelving can all help you to create a striking window display that will boost your business. Here are a few tips for putting together a great display:

• Varied shelving heights - create interest in your display by placing shelving units of different height in your window. Positioning products at different heights helps to draw attention to your display and lets you show off a variety of goods.
• Use versatile wire shelving units - wire shelving comes in many sizes and heights and provides a great base for a window display. Light and easy to move around, wire shelving allows you to change your display regularly without any effort.
• Make the best use of your space - if you only have a small area for your window display, don't over-complicate things. Choose a few special offers or popular items and create a bright and appealing array.
• Use reliable shelving - choose sturdy and hard-wearing retail shelving for your window display as these units will be moved and changed a lot. 
• Coordinate - use matching shelving, coloured packaging, Epos strips, promotional material and signage to coordinate your display for an aesthetically pleasing look.
• Promote - place seasonal goods and promotional items in clear view and use any branded posters or advertising you have to draw attention to special deals.
• Make it relevant - change your display to suit the season, local events and public holidays to show that you stock relevant products.
• Consider fitted shelving - it may be easier for you to fit shelving to your window display space for a seamless, professional look.
• Vary your display regularly - change your display regularly to prevent your storefront from looking boring or outdated. Placing fresh, new products in your window shows customers that you have a range of stock and you are attentive to your customers' needs.

·     Wall shelving - For narrower shops with a large amount of wall space then using gondola shelving is not always the best option to optimise your floor space. Using wall shelving utilises the floor space that you have and create plenty of shelving for your products.

·     Shopping baskets - Baskets are a great way to encourage customers to pick up more or bulkier products while they are shopping as baskets make them easier to carry. As well as placing baskets at the entrance of your store, consider placing stacks around your store, often customers will not think they need a basket but need one half way through their store. By having baskets around the store you are making it more convenient for customers to buy more items.

·     Wire stacking baskets - For those odd spaces that you have empty that are too small for a full shelving bay but are otherwise wasting space, stacking baskets can be a great filler product that can hold impulse purchase items. These baskets can also be easily moved around to provide new and interesting displays for regular customers.

·     Corner shelving - Due to the nature of straight bay shelving often corners are left empty of are blocked off and are wasted space. By simply adding in a corner shelving unit you can open up the corners of your store and utilise all the space that you have.

·     Peg board shelving and pegs - Often people do not consider items that do not sit well on a flat shelf when they are purchasing shelving. Peg board shelving is a great way to easily hang items within your store and all of our bay units fit together to ensure a seamless shelving display.
